The cost of an HVAC inspection varies depending on the contractor you use and the size of your home. For instance, your inspection could run anywhere from $200 on the low end to $400 or more if you have a larger home. You may be thinking, “at that price is an HVAC inspection really worth it?” The answer to that question is, “absolutely!”
An HVAC inspection is important because it catches problems before they start. In many cases, people forget they even have an HVAC system until it goes on the fritz. You definitely don’t want to be without your furnace on a cold day, or your air conditioner on a hot one. At Ambient Edge, we have the experience and know-how necessary to perform quality HVAC inspections so our customers can rest easier. To schedule your inspection, give us a call at (888) 240-8283 today.
What Is Involved in an HVAC Inspection?
An HVAC inspection is part of the tune-up process. Typically, you can expect an HVAC tune-up to consist mainly of three phases: inspection, cleaning, and service.
Keep in mind that you do not need to do all of these things at once. If you want us to inspect your system and clean and service it later, we can do that. Or, you may decide that since we’re there anyway, we can take care of everything for you all in one shot. We can do that, too! We will work with you on a schedule that best fits your time and budget.
Here are some quick pointers on what you can expect to receive in return for the price you pay for an HVAC inspection.
The Inspection
Your HVAC inspection is the first part of the tune-up process. One of our qualified, licensed technicians will check your furnace and air conditioner for signs of wear and tear.
One of the main issues that homeowners tend to face at the start of the summer season is low refrigerant in their air conditioners, so the technician will check your levels. They also will check to make sure the furnace and air conditioner’s motors and compressors are operating as expected.
Cleaning Your HVAC System
The second step in the tune-up process deals with the cleaning of your HVAC system. Even if you are diligent about cleaning and replacing your air filters (and it’s a good idea to do just that), our technician will still thoroughly clean your HVAC system to remove any dirt and debris that the filters weren’t able to catch.
Servicing Your HVAC System
Here’s the part of the HVAC tune-up that is going to vary the most when it comes to price. Simply put, some homeowners need more service on their HVAC system than other homeowners do. It all comes down to usage, maintenance, and the age of your machines.
Some folks don’t need any service at all, especially if their system is new and/or they do a thorough job of keeping it clean and well-maintained. Others may have a part that has worn out or is close enough to it to cause problems down the road. These issues need to be serviced as soon as possible to ensure your system does not break down when pushed to its limit on a particularly hot or cold day.
Benefits of an HVAC Tune-Up
You may be wondering if you should skip your HVAC tune-up if your budget is already stretched a little tight this year. But it’s truly worth it to get your HVAC system tuned up in the long run, for your budget and for the life of your machines.
On average, an HVAC tune-up only takes around an hour to complete. After that hour, the more efficient your HVAC system will run, the less energy it will use, and the less it will cost you in the long run in unexpected repairs or worse: a full-on replacement. Plus, you don’t have to worry as much about paying exorbitant emergency service fees when you need service in the middle of the night or during the busiest season.
An HVAC tune-up allows you to get at least 10 good years out of your HVAC system, the absolute minimum at which you should start considering an upgrade. While some systems are fallible, with proper care and maintenance, you should be able to get 10 years out of your system easily.
