What to Expect from the Home Energy Audit Process
If you’ve never had a home energy audit performed before, here is a brief idea of what to expect once our energy auditor arrives.
The auditor will examine both the interior and exterior of your home and look for any potential issues. It’s a good idea to prepare a list ahead of time of those issues that you already know exist, such as a drafty window or doorway, to save the auditor time and to point out anything he may have otherwise missed. You should also let him know the temperature you tend to keep your thermostat on, as this too affects your overall energy usage.
The auditor will also check your attic and basement or crawlspace to ensure all ducts and insulation are installed and working properly. He’ll make a note of any repairs that need to be done that could otherwise lead to a breakdown that will cause your home to hemorrhage energy.

This is an accurate depiction of where exactly in your home a draft exists, and how severe it is.
